Who We Are

Gift of Life Michigan's Annual Events Program is set up to allow any intrested volunteer the opportunity to particpate in our larger scale events without having to complete qualifications.

What We Do

We host a variety of annual events that all community members are encouraged to participate in.

Please check out some of our annual events listed below.

Campus Challenge- This annual Gift of Life Michigan campaign encourages those unregistered to sign up to the Michigan Organ Donor Registry. Campaigns like this can occur any time of the year, but our biggest donor drive is this five-week Gift of Life Michigan Campus Challenge each January and February. Volunteers like you can help us connect with college campuses across the state.

National Donor Day- On February 14th, volunteers can participate in a virtual activity to help spread the message of donation and help us all to honor the lives of donors globally. National Donor Day aims to raise awareness of the life-saving benefits of five different types of donation, including Organ, Tissue, Marrow, Platelets, and Blood.  Donate Life Month- Celebrated all April long. We honor the gift of life and all of the donors who chose to give the life changing gift of organ, eye, or tissue donation. Volunteers are invited to participate in activities all month long to highlight not only the importance, but the positive impact donation has in our communities.

Transplant Games of America- Team Michigan members are invited to participate every two years during summer months in The Transplant Games of America. These are Olympic style games located somewhere in the United States; are for Recipients, Donor Families and those waiting for transplants. If you’d like to learn more about these games, please feel free to ask for a connection to Team Michigan leadership.  If you are interested in joining Team Michigan please visit teammichigan.org

Gift of Life/ MOTTEP LIFE WALK-  Annually, on the last Saturday in July, Gift of Life Michigan MOTTEP Hosts a 5k/10k run on Detroit’s Belle Isle to help uplift the message of Donation. This is a fun family affair. 100 volunteers are needed for this event. If you are interested in signing up for this or other annual opportunities today. You can find them when clicking annual events on Galaxy Digital.

Donate Life Night at the ZOO- Each Summer, Gift of Life Michigan hosts a night at the John Ball Zoo in Grand Rapids where various vendors and community get together to promote donation. 100-150 volunteers are needed to help make this event a success.

DMV MONTH- Every September, we recognize the hard work that the Michigan Secretary of State Clerks do to help us build and maintain the Michigan Organ Donor Registry. On occasion, I will ask for volunteers to help box and send our DMV friends some acknowledgements and thank you’s.  Annual HOSA Challenge- From October to November Gift of Life Michigan, Challenges Health Occupational Students of America or (HOSA) at colleges and universities across the state, to register as many people as possible to the organ donor registry. The goal is to have all HOSA programs in the Michigan participate.
