Volunteer: 517 Hispanic Heritage Weekend: A Taste of Hispanic Heritage Festival in Downtown Lansing

We will be hosting an information table at the 517 Hispanic Heritage Weekend! We are also sponsors for the weekend this year, so we want to make sure we have a big, fun presence at the festival.

What will you be asked to do?

You will be asked to answer questions about organ, eye and tissue donation. There will be updated facts and information available for your review available. You will also be handing out giveaway items.

Accessibility

This is an outdoor event. I will have a canopy tent, but expect to dress for very warm weather or potential light rain. There are nearby businesses where you can cool down if needed.

The festival is on the street so expect to need to walk at least one block to the festival to join us. Parking is in public garages nearby. This is a popular event, so many of the nearest garages could fill quickly.

The noise levels will be moderate. There is fun music and dancing throughout the day, but these are centralized to the stage.

If you have special accessibility concerns, please contact Dani at 734-418-4674 or dreisbig@golm.org

Dress Code

Please wear your volunteer t-shirt (or Organ donation themed shirt) and your volunteer name tag. You can wear any pants, shorts, or skirt that you prefer as long as they're clean and appropriate.

How to Find The Festival

The festival is going to be on Capitol Ave right in front of the Capital Building in Lansing. (It stretches from Ottawa St. to Allegan St.) If you need to follow directions, I recommend using the Capital Building as your address: 100 N Capitol Ave, Lansing, MI 48933.

If you run into issues, call or text Dani at 734-418-4674

NOTE: There will be some attendees who speak Spanish only or are more comfortable speaking Spanish. You DO NOT have to speak Spanish to volunteer. We have Spanish materials we can share. However, Spanish-speaking volunteers would be very appreciated.
